zum Wohl // Stefanie Momo Beck (AT)

In her project “zum Wohl”, Vorarlberg artist Stefanie Momo Beck examines facets of a complex state, well-being – an idealised state that seems to be constantly and unconsciously chased after by individuals and society. In her solo she observes the fragile interaction between embodiment and emotions. By playing with objects and placing the performer in relation to them, the audience is invited to engage in a visual and emotional dialogue with their own well-being. The current, changing state of the performer also influences the course of the piece. Finding and negotiating physical well-being is at the centre of the performance.

Ancestors Echoes // Maartje Pasman (NL/AT)

Ancestors Echoes is Maartje Pasman’s intimate journey into her Dutch-Indonesian heritage, intertwining ancestral dances with contemporary exploration. Through these dances, she weaves soundscapes from her roots, navigating the intergenerational silences that shape her identity. The mantra “kita tari, tari kita” – “we dance, our dance” – resonates, bridging past and present. Through imagery and movement, echoes of the past reverberate, allowing her spirit to find expression in the here and now.

This work-in-progress is a collage of personal reflections that began in 2023. It draws on family interviews, a journey to Java, Indonesia, and the practice of traditional Javanese temple dance. With the use of field recordings and her voice she layers the work with an auditory texture. As Maartje continues her research, she navigates layers of memory and movement, examining how these lingering echoes inform the present and reshape the narrative of her artistic expression.
